Costume design and realization: Nadia Kosta

Year: 2026

A theatrical collage adapted and devised from: Fear and Misery of the Third ReichBertolt Brecht / The Third Reich of DreamsCharlotte Beradt / CabaretBob Fosse, 1972 / A Bright Room Called DayTony Kushner.

Bringing together four different works gave me the challenge of creating one visual language through costume. The common element was fear — the fear that shaped everyday life in Germany at the time.

Through the costumes, I wanted to show the different sides of this society: power and authority, social class, ordinary people and those living on the margins. At the same time, all the characters had to belong to the same world — a world marked by poverty, hardship and fear.

I used a limited colour palette, together with different shapes, textures and costume details, to show each character’s place in society while keeping a strong visual connection between them.

The Nightmare became the symbol that brought everything together. The exposed skeleton turns the human body into an image of the fear that is always present, behind every character and every story.
